Allyship in the workplace

Allyship is a journey for all of us and being an ally in the workplace means owning your own privilege without ego, defensiveness or guilt.

That said, workplace allyship is very different from allyship in social settings. As a systemic problem, social oppression must be addressed at a systems level, and workplace allies in positions of power are integral to prioritizing and spearheading this type of change

The top 4 things you need to keep in mind are:
  • Own Your Privilege
  • DON'T expect marginalized people to be your educators
  • Prepare to make mistakes and grow throughout the journey
  • Workplace allyship has to be about systemic change and not just about supporting people
